The amount of your compensation is divided into two parts. The first part is to compensate you for your actual injury and is called general damages. The amount that you receive depends on a number of factors including:

Some cases are more straight forward than others but most follow the same steps.

1. we take your instructions on how your accident happened
2. if we consider that you have reasonable prospects of success we enter into the appropriate funding arrangements
3. we write to your opponent giving them notice of your claim and explaining why we hold them responsible
4. assuming that we receive an admission of liability we obtain medical evidence as to the extent of your injury
5. we prepare a schedule setting out your financial losses
6. we enter into discussions with the other side as to the amount of your compensation
7. you receive your compensation
8. we get paid by your opponent

Some cases become more complicated than this because we do not receive an admission of liability or we cannot agree the amount of compensation. However you can rest assured that we will keep you fully informed as to developments and the options open to you at every step of the way.
